Palm Sunday
On Palm Sunday, the Reverend Nate Rugh blessed the prayer beads the children made in classes during Lent. Katie Semmler was in charge of this activity.

Making Pretzels
The pretzel has been used during Lent for over 1500 years. It is thought that originally pretzels were made by monks to resemble arms crossed in prayer. These breads were called “little arms.” This can have deep spiritual meaning for us during Lent. Since basically only flour and water are used, pretzels can remind us of fasting.

Easter Story Cookies
The children in grades 1-2 made Easter Story cookies. These cookies must remain in the oven overnight, so the children had to wait until the following week to enjoy their treat.

Here is the recipe as a Word document.

Anglican Prayer Beads
During Lent children in all classes have made Anglican Prayer beads. Under the guidance of Katie Semmler each class has selected beads and assembled their rosaries. On Palm Sunday, the children will gather in the gym on Level A at 10:15. Their prayer beads will be blessed and they will be given both verbal and written instructions for their use. Parents are welcomed to come to Level A for this activity.

Origami
Sue Neff has been visiting all of our classrooms and has taught the children how to create beautiful origami. She has taken the time and energy to have the folding activity be directly related to the lectionary for that day. There are examples and photos on the bulletin boards in the parish hall.
