FOYER
GROUPS
AT
CALVARY

FOYER - A French word meaning "hearthside" implying the warmth of a close,
small group of friends sharing a common love and concern for each other.

History - After the World War II bombing of Coventry Cathedral small groups of people
began meeting to rebuild their community: a short litany, a modest meal, conversation. In time,
FOYER GROUPS began springing up in parishes all over Britain and in America. Many
Episcopal churches have foyer groups. Calvary's began in 1993.

Would you enjoy meeting with a few Calvary old-and-new-comers to talk and eat and find
common connections?

A committee from Parish Life forms the groups of 9 to 13 (or so) folks. Meetings are
once a month for four months; often on Friday evenings or Sunday afternoons, occasionally
on a weekday evening; about two hours, generally in someone's home, usually pot luck.
Each group decides. After four months...a new season. Groups change as new people join in
and we start again.

FOYER GROUPS - a proven way to make our sometimes-too-large-seeming parish feel
smaller and warmer. For longtime Calvaryites, newcomers, inquirers...whoever you are...
FOYER GROUPS!
