STEWARDSHIP at CALVARY

Why should I give?

Jesus said a lot about money and financial resources. How we respond to what he said is challenging. The ministry of Stewardship at Calvary provides us an opportunity to respond to that challenge. Everything that we are and everything that we have are gifts from God. If we give generously to support God's work, we acknowledge God's boundless love and bountiful gifts to us. Giving generously brings joy to our lives and shows our confidence that God's abundant gifts to us will continue. Including support of God's work at Calvary helps us to participate fully in the Calvary community, its programs, its ministry, and its exceptional potential.

 

How can I give?

There are three principal ways that we support Calvary financially:

• The Annual Stewardship Appeal
• Planned giving
• Capital Campaigns that are held from time to time.

How much should I give?

• The biblical norm of giving back to God for His work is the tithe, 10% of income, which many of us today understand as pre-tax income.
  
• What is pre-tax income? That's up to you to decide. Many people use their anticipated adjusted gross income from their US tax returns. Giving 10% immediately may be hard to do. Many of us at Calvary start at a lesser level and work upward as frequently as possible, with the tithe always in mind as a goal. That's proportionate giving. Proportionate giving should be part of our annual budgeting process for the Annual Stewardship Appeal and part of our planning when we execute our wills

For what does the Annual Appeal Pay?

• The Annual Appeals currently provide about two-thirds of the income of Calvary's annual budget. Pledges to support the Annual Appeal are the primary way that the Vestry estimates the anticipated income for the year to plan the budget.

How do I Participate in the Annual Appeal?

• A pledge drive is held in the fall, but pledges will be accepted at any time during the year. Pledges can be paid in whatever manner is the best for you: weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. and can be paid with monetary gifts or stock transfer. We hope that support of Calvary's Annual Stewardship Appeals will be the centerpiece of your annual gifts to God to do the work that God is calling us to do.
