Please join us at Calvary, East Liberty on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, 2025 for a weekend of events to celebrate and dedicate our new “Philadelphia Eleven” stained-glass window.
The window being dedicated commemorates the first women ordained in the Episcopal Church, known as the “Philadelphia Eleven.” These eleven women were ordained on July 29, 1974 at the Church of the Advocate in Philadelphia. As part of our window dedication, we will celebrate these eleven women and this event that led the Episcopal Church to begin to ordain women as priests.
We are excited to welcome two special guests that weekend: the Rev. Nancy Wittig, one of the priests ordained in Philadelphia that day, and Margo Guernsey, director and producer of the documentary, The Philadelphia Eleven.
The celebration begins at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 18. We will have a reception, a showing of the documentary, The Philadelphia Eleven, and a post-film panel discussion with our special guests.
On Sunday, October 19, at 10 a.m. there will be an adult forum discussion on women’s ordination. After the 11 o’clock service, we will dedicate the window and hold a festive coffee hour.
All in the diocese are invited to join us for all or part of this very special weekend!
